Milo & I
‘Mann is smooth, professional, and always entertaining, a writer with a good ear for dialogue and a devious mind for plot...the mix of humour and seriousness, of crime and ordinary people, works brilliantly well.’
Lavie Tidhar, Dusksite, 2003.
‘Overall the writing is remarkably strong...many slipstream authors enjoying tinkering around inside the mind of people teetering on the brink of insanity. Indeed, it’s almost de rigeur. But few manage this with the same insight and literacy as Mann.’
Mark Greener, Matrix, 2004.
‘The stories found in Milo & I are original, thought-provoking page turners with a delightful hint of humour mixed in. Mann’s sharp attention to detail plants you firmly in his characters’ worlds. You won’t want to put these tales down until you reach the end.’
Catherine Chant, Futures Mystery Anthology Magazine, 2004.
Billy’s Day Out
‘The film is as clever as a spin doctor. Watch it and feel your preconceptions slide like snakes into a pit. At six minutes, I hesitate to say more at the risk of spoiling this excellent drama. Neatly shot and acted, it is impressive and accomplished. Makes you wonder what the children would think.’
Amber Wilkinson, Eye For Film, 2004.
Shopping
‘There is a good spread of international writers here and my guess is that there are more than a few future ‘names’ featured. Crimewave 4 is worth getting for Antony Mann’s Shopping alone.’
Peter Walker, Crime Time 24.
‘Best of all is Shopping by Antony Mann which makes me want to erroneously describe one of the other stories as ‘hard boiled’ just so I can accurately describe this one as ‘scrambled’. It’s only two pages long, contains practically no verbs and is very sick and very, very funny.’
James Oliver, adhoc Magazine, 2001
